Perry is she is Chicago native birthed to Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Two of her earliest television appearances were Jackie Harris on ABC's sitcom Roseanne. Her mother portrayed the role. Because of their fear of stress, the parents didn't want to see performing before turning 18. Perry shy and timid to perform in the school, began to perform at Northwestern University because she wanted to make new friends. Perry went on to New York, where she got small roles on shows such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent. The feeling of homesickness caused Perry home to California and theater roles were in demand. The Other Place was performed by her and her mother in 2013 on Broadway in 2013 In 2015, she starred with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prizewinning drama Anna Christie. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry played nine roles in The Family, an ABC film The Family, in 2016. In 2017, she played an recurring role in The ABC drama about politics Scandal starring her father. She played the younger Mary Cooper (Sheldon Cooper's mother) in Young Sheldon. This spin-off show from CBS's The Big Bang Theory was an additional portrayal that was younger of her mother. The character was assigned an audition to the actress, despite the fact that she is a relative to the character.
